Taiwan. When his dangerous older brother is released from prison, high school fencer Jie helps him, defying their mother’s attempts to bury his existence.
Nelicia Low is a writer-director based in Singapore and Taiwan. She represented Singapore as a National Fencer for 7 years, and retired after the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou to focus on filmmaking. In 2018, she received her MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University in New York.
Her short film FREEZE premiered in the International Competition of the 38th Clermont-Ferrand ISFF in 2016, and screened at Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 2016, Busan ISFF 2016, Singapore IFF 2016, and over 70 international film festivals around the world.Nelicia was previously selected for the 2018 SGIFF’s Southeast Asian Film Lab and the 2019 Le Groupe Ouest’s LESS IS MORE European film lab. Recently, she participated in the 2020 Full Circle Lab and the 2020 Berlinale’s Talents Tokyo workshop with her first feature PIERCE, where PIERCE won the Special Mention Award. Having grown up with an autistic brother in a complicated family, Nelicia’s films express the extreme manner in which she perceives love.
